Dr. Mohammad Farhadi Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology met with Ms. Esther Kuisch Laroche, the Director of the UN Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Cluster Office in Tehran and UNESCO’s Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan on Monday and the two exchanged ideas on a host of cultural and educational issues.
Iranian minister expressed pleasure over the activities of UNESCO's five scientific boards in Iran after Laroche promised the expansion of those activities.
Farhadi also welcomed Laroche’s request for Iran supporting Turkmenistan’s scientific development and expressed Iran’s readiness to establish a Science and Technology Park in the neighboring country where Iranian scholars can hold workshops and seminars helping Turkmens with academic development.
The head of UNESCO regional office in Tehran expressed gratitude for Iran's supportive cooperation in scientific, cultural and artistic arenas in less developed neighbors like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
Meanwhile, Laroche expressed hope that the closeness of UNESCO regional offices in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Iran would contribute to establishment of appropriate scientific and cultural cooperation among the four countries.
She welcomed Iran's helps and supports in such other fields as water resource management, preservation of cultural heritage, research in natural science and similar fields with the UNESCO regional office in Tehran.
